While the atmosphere may be a bit bland and the dining area a bit hot, Josh's serves up a fine char dog that I'd happily make the trip for again. Expect reasonable prices and a traditional chicago hole in the wall service.
I like this place, which is good because the owner doesn't seem to care for the one star reviews(lol). The food reminds me of the places I used to hit up with my dad on summer afternoons as a kid. It costs a bit more, but that's how it goes for small business owners these days and it is worth it for the quality. I would def recommend if you are in the area.
May I say wow! The burger is huge, my eyes bigger than my stomach. The fries are great as well, I'm usually picky with fries. The hamerburger meat is actually meat that's formed fresh. Not frozen nasty hockey puck patties you see at many places. The gyro meat was very good, thank you. They were very nice and helpful. I shall try out your other items soon.
I’m so glad that tonight I actually remembered to get the Friday night ribs special tonight. I have lived about 10 minutes from Josh’s for a long time and have always meant to check it out. Then when I kept hearing people talk about their great rib special I wanted to try it but kept forgetting on Fridays! Well lucky for me I remembered tonight. I got the full slab special for 20 and it’s normally almost 30. The ribs were so good I would absolutely pay the 30 if I was craving ribs. They do them perfect and the fries were extra good with a side of the merkts cheese. I’m not a fan of coleslaw but they give you a lot if you like it! We also got a gyro and a pizza puff, and they were both very good. I love pizza puffs but if a place has dirty oil you can taste it and it ruins the pizza puffs taste but you can tell their oil was clean and new cause the pizza puff was perfection. We will totally be back.
It’s not just that the food is great and the service is always accommodating. It’s the fact that we in northbrook have an owner like Josh, who tops off the greatness. I appreciate the hard work and effort it takes to keep a small family run business going in this town. Seems like the village would prefer big-wig names and incentivize corporate run business, but I like Josh’s. Super friendly staff serving fantastic grub! Had the Italian Beef and a Chicago dog with bacon. The Italian Beef was tender and super tasty with a nice kick from the peppers. Fantastic Chicago dog extra good with the bacon.
